Christine Donovan- senior
“I’m here because I care about the Notre Dame Family, our family is suffering- do we care enough to change it…Our campus would not run without the hundreds of employees the ND family is a community of people who live together, who work together, who study and play and pray together. Staff members are a vital part of that community and they are part of our family and deserve a voice. CLAP is working to build that voice. We are hear to affirm and uphold the idea of the ND family ,recreating its image to represent the entire body we are calling our community- you- to unite”

Jamie Kralovec- senior
In a catholic light this question comes down to one simple idea- Vocation. how are we as individuals and as members of a community called to further justice and love our god? We are called to uphold each other, to live in community and to build each other up. The task is a simple task and the answer is a simple one- are we living up to that call

Pamela Ruiz- sophomore
“How can ND workers hope for tomorrow if they have to find a way to survive for today”

Nick Krafft- freshman
Whenever I see injustice whether economic or of any type, as a Christian, as a human being, I am obligated to right those wrongs, it is not the job of anybody else, present or future, but my own to make that difference. My faith requires this of me. And so I will not stand idle at the unfair economic arrangements on this campus, but I will and I must seek to challenge them and to change them. Will you stand with me?

Guadalupe Gomez- Junior
Many employees do not receive a living wage, this means that many of them need to work two jobs, this means of them are in my dad’s old situation- there may be children in the future with absent parents. Why do things like this happen? If the university has the power to do something in order to ensure that all its workers have more time with their own families- then why not do it We have the power to make good things happen- when we unite under a common cause success can be achieved

Tom Lenz-Alumni, 1977
Can ND see its mission in a deeper and broader way- can it take pride in not only how it prepares students for the world, but how it treats its workers I think that Notre Dame is in a unique and powerful position to do just that. We can show the church, we can show America what it means to be a leader in how we treat our workers. That we are about not just paying just what the market dictates but in paying what Christ demands.
